The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted our lives in ways we could not have imagined. The way we educate children has had to shift rapidly in order to ensure that every child has the same opportunity to learn and doesn’t fall behind or miss opportunities to excel. Despite heroic efforts from both parents and educators, some children are still struggling to succeed in the tumultuous and stressful times we are living in. In an effort to lend a helping hand and combat learning loss, Castleberry ISD is proud to announce PACE Saturdays, a program which Promotes Achievement for Castleberry Excellence as the district's Additional Days School Year support program.

As part of the PACE Saturdays support program, or PACE, our dedicated team of educators and administrators at each campus are stepping up and opening schools for in-person instruction from 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon on Saturdays for students who may need just a little extra help. This is not a summer school or required remediation program. Joining the PACE program is completely voluntary.  However, it could be exactly what your child needs to make this year a resounding success.

PACE Saturdays will feature limited class sizes, personalized individual instruction, and stringent cleaning and safety measures as found in our Reentry Guidebook. Students may also bring the meal provided to them by Child Nutrition during meal pickup to eat during the day. You may be wondering what situations would warrant participating in the PACE program? Some examples might include the following:

  • A student who has been participating in remote learning, but isn’t learning at the pace they usually do.
  • A student who has been learning in person, but has fallen behind due to the changes and stresses that have come with the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • A student of a safety conscious family who has been doing remote learning, but is falling behind and is going to be changed to completely in-person learning if their performance doesn’t improve.
  • A Gifted and Talented or Advanced Placement student who is still doing okay in school, but isn’t learning at the level or pace that they have come to expect from themselves.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an incredible impact on everyone and has shaken the very fabric of our education system across the nation. But that doesn’t mean that your child will fall behind, or that we should accept learning loss as inevitable. It is our sincere hope that our families will take advantage of the PACE support program to receive the extra help their students need to make this year the success story they deserve.
