The Bluebonnet Voting Party was held on Friday, February 17th. Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th were challenged to read 5 or more books from this year’s Bluebonnet list. Students from all over Texas vote on these books. Students who met this challenge voted for their favorite book from the list. They had sign-ins, private voting booths, and “I voted” stickers, just like when voting for President.  The students were given a small lesson on how the voting procedures work in the “real” world.  They seemed very proud to be taking part in this election.  Chicken Squad was voted the favorite book from the list by students at Castl3eberry Elementary. In celebration of their reading accomplishments students were invited to a party hosted by CISD’s child nutrition department. At the party students voted on which foods they liked. Child nutrition provided fresh fruits and vegetables for student to sample. Students also danced to GoNoodle. Hopefully, next year there will be even more students who accept the Bluebonnet reading challenge.
